[Wanglin Bio] The 2023 China Bakery Sugar Association National Jelly Industry Annual Conference and Summit Forum was held.

The “2023 China Baking Sugar Association National Jelly Industry Annual Conference and Summit Forum” was held on August 24, 2023, in Jiangshan City, Zhejiang Province. Attendees included Zhang Jiu-kui, Chairman of the China Baking Sugar Association; Vice Chairmen and Secretary-General Zhang Shuai; Vice Chairwoman Yang Mummei; Deputy Secretary-General and Secretary-General of the Jelly Professional Committee Zhang Bin; Deputy Secretary-General of the Jelly Professional Committee Li Ruiguang; Deputy Secretary-General of the Technical Regulations Professional Committee Wei Lili; as well as over 70 representatives from more than 50 organizations, including jelly‑producing and related enterprises, research institutes, and media outlets.

This conference is hosted by the Jelly Professional Committee of the China Baking Sugar Association and co-organized by Zhejiang Wanglin Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and the Jiangshan City Chinese Herbal Medicine Industry Association.

The meeting was chaired by Li Ruiguang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Association’s Jelly Professional Committee.

The main agenda items of the meeting include: opening remarks by guest speakers, keynote presentations, the 2022 work report and 2023 priorities of the Jelly Professional Committee of the China Baking Sugar Association, briefings on relevant food safety standards and regulations, and exchanges among participants on the current state of the industry and enterprises, existing challenges, and future development directions.

Vice Mayor Zheng Aiping delivered a welcoming address, expressing gratitude to the association for convening this event under the theme “Joining Hands to Elevate Jiangshan’s Polygonatum and Innovate Jelly Products,” thereby fostering collaborative discussions on the integrated development of the polygonatum and jelly industries and establishing a professional, cutting-edge platform for exchange. She also extended her hope that experts and entrepreneurs will continue to lend their support to Jiangshan’s development, warmly inviting all to visit Jiangshan often, offer guidance, and invest in the region, further advancing innovation in the health‑food sector.

The chairman of Zhejiang Wanglin Biotechnology Co., Ltd., the organizer of this conference, Mr. Wang Fang, extended a warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude to all the distinguished leaders and industry peers in attendance. He also expressed his appreciation to the association for providing this valuable platform for extensive industry-wide exchange and learning, which will help foster the sector’s healthy and sustainable development, and wished the conference every success.

This summit featured four keynote presentations, including: “A Brief Discussion on the Integration of Food and Medicine and Breakthroughs in Jelly Product Innovation” by Dr. Zhang Yanling, doctoral supervisor at the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine; “Applications of Bio-based L-Malic Acid in Food” by Professor Yang Ruijin of Jiangnan University; “Applications of Natural Colorants in Jelly Products” by Ding Zhikun, Deputy Manager of the R&D Department at Zhuhai Yafuxingyuan Food Industry Co., Ltd.; and “Research Progress and Industrial Development Potential of Polygonatum Sibiricum” by Liu Jingjin of the National Innovation Alliance for the Polygonatum Industry.

During the member‑enterprise exchange and discussion session, attendees shared their business performance, professional insights, and perspectives in the current economic environment, exchanged views on challenges encountered in industry development, and offered valuable suggestions for the association’s work, particularly that of the Jelly Professional Committee.

Finally, Zhang Jiu-kui, Chairman of the China Roasted Sugar Association, delivered a concluding address. He stated that the Association will, as always, serve as a bridge and link between the government and enterprises, standardize industry practices, address practical challenges faced by businesses, and provide high-quality services. Chairman Zhang expressed his gratitude to all for their contributions to the industry’s development and for their longstanding support of the Association’s work, and he urged continued attention and support to foster the healthy growth of the sector.
