Zhejiang Wanglin Bio has submitted to the National Health Commission an application to expand the permitted uses of plant-derived carbon black to include potato chips, puffed foods, and seasonings.

In November 2018, Zhejiang Wanglin Biotechnology Co., Ltd. submitted a request to the National Health Commission to expand the permitted uses of vegetable carbon black to include “bean products, roasted nuts and seeds, and bread.” On September 16, 2019, the company again petitioned the National Health Commission to extend the scope of use to two additional categories: “root crops and puffed foods, and seasonings.”
