The inaugural conference and symposium of Zhejiang Wanglin’s “Bio-based Black Functional Products Research Institute” were successfully held.

On the afternoon of May 15, 2025, the inaugural ceremony and symposium of the “Bio-based Black Functional Products Research Institute” of Zhejiang Wanglin Biotechnology Co., Ltd. were successfully held.

Leading officials from the Jiangshan Municipal People’s Government, accompanied by representatives from the Jiangshan Science and Technology Bureau, the Organization Department of the Jiangshan Municipal Party Committee, the Jiangshan Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, the Jiangshan Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, the Jiangshan Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Dachen Township Government, and the Jiangshan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, attended the meeting. Also in attendance were Mao Jianwei, Director of the Collaborative Innovation Center for Biochemical Manufacturing of Agricultural Biological Resources at Zhejiang University of Science and Technology and Zhejiang Province; Professors Sheng Kuichuan and Shao Qingjun of Zhejiang University; Zhang Hui, Professor at Qingdao University and Secretary-General of the Colorants Professional Committee of the China Food Additives and Ingredients Association; Professor Zhang Yanling of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Lu Shengli, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Biological and Chemical Engineering at Zhejiang University of Science and Technology; Liu Zhijia, Deputy Director and Researcher at the Green Economy Research Institute of the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation; Wu Huaqing, Vice President of the Zhejiang Provincial Chinese Herbal Medicine Industry Association; Professor Zhang Wenbiao of Zhejiang A&F University; Professor Liu Xiuhua of Henan University; Li Yuguo of the Green Economy Research Institute of the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation; He Chunyi, Secretary-General of the Zhejiang Provincial Food Additives and Ingredients Association; Professor Qian Shaoping of Ningbo University; Professor Sha Ruyi of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology; Wang Fang, Chairwoman of Zhejiang Wanglin Biotechnology Co., Ltd.; and Cheng Hongcai, General Manager of the company.

Wang Fang, Chairperson of Wanglin Bio, delivered a welcome address, expressing her gratitude to all the experts and leaders for their attendance.

Professor Sheng Kuichuan of Zhejiang University presented “Preparation and Performance Study of Functional Biochar”; Professor Zhang Yanling of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine delivered “Wanglin’s Competitive Edge Empowering Jiangshan Polygonatum Sibiricum”; and Professor Mao Jianwei of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology—also Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center for Biochemical Manufacturing of Agricultural Biological Resources—spoke on “New Market Opportunities, New Characteristics, and New Platforms: Building National-Level Specialized, Sophisticated, and Novel Enterprises in Emerging Niche Segments of Bio-Based Black Health Products.” The three experts each gave a series of specialized presentations, offering attendees abundant industry insights and opportunities for technical exchange.

Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, together with the Zhejiang Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center for Biochemical Manufacturing of Agricultural Biological Resources, and Wanglin Biotechnology, jointly signed a co‑construction agreement and held a ribbon‑cutting ceremony to officially launch the research institute. This event marked the formal commencement of their collaboration. Meanwhile, the Party branch of the School of Biological and Chemical Engineering at Zhejiang University of Science and Technology and the joint Party branch of non‑public enterprises in Dachen Township, Jiangshan City, signed a party‑building cooperation agreement, further strengthening ties and collaboration between the two organizations. Under the leadership of the Party organization, the research institute will better unleash its potential and contribute the “Wanglin” spirit to the development of Party building.

Participants moved into a free‑flowing discussion session, engaging in in‑depth deliberations on topics such as industrial policy, technological bottlenecks, and market prospects, amid a lively and energetic atmosphere.

The successful convening of this seminar marks the official launch of Zhejiang Wanglin Biotechnology Co., Ltd.’s “Bio-based Black Functional Products Research Institute,” which will inject new momentum into technological innovation and industrial development in the bio-based black functional products sector.
