Zhejiang Wanglin Bio has successfully obtained approval from the National Health Commission to expand the permitted uses of vegetable carbon black to include flavored fermented milk and fruit jam.

On March 3, 2022, the National Health Commission issued Announcement No. 1 of 2022 on its official website, confirming that the scope of use for vegetable carbon black has been expanded to include compound seasonings and puffed foods. As of May 1, 2022, the permitted uses and maximum levels of vegetable carbon black are as follows:
