The 2024 China Baking Industry Association National Cookie and Puffed Food Industry Annual Conference and Summit Forum was held.

The “2024 China Baking Sugar Association National Cookie and Puffed Food Industry Annual Conference and Summit Forum” was held from August 26 to 28, 2024, in Jiangshan City, Zhejiang Province. The event was organized by the Cookie and Puffed Food Professional Committee of the China Baking Sugar Association, hosted by Zhejiang Wanglin Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and co‑organized by the Jiangshan Municipal Administration for Market Regulation, the Jiangshan Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, the Jiangshan Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Jiangshan Municipal Chinese Herbal Medicine Industry Association.

On the morning of July 12, the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress conducted an inspection visit to Zhejiang Wanglin Biotechnology Co., Ltd. The visit was attended by Wang Sheng, Director of the Standing Committee, along with Vice Directors Mao Zhengcai, Mao Jize, Zheng Xianwen, Wu Xiaoxiong, Zhang Zhijun, and Zhou Bo, as well as members of the committee. Announcement of the State Administration for Market Regulation on the Issuance of the “Technical Requirements for Filing Products Containing Ginseng, American Ginseng, and Ganoderma lucidum as Health Food Ingredients”

In accordance with the Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Catalogue of Raw Materials for Health Foods—Ginseng, the Catalogue of Raw Materials for Health Foods—American Ginseng, and the Catalogue of Raw Materials for Health Foods—Lingzhi, the State Administration for Market Regulation has formulated the Technical Requirements for Filing Products Containing Ginseng, American Ginseng, and Lingzhi as Health Food Ingredients. This is hereby announced and shall take effect as of May 1, 2024.

Research and Development of Health Foods from the Perspective of the Concept of “Food as Medicine”

As an important category of health foods, medicinal‑food homology products occupy a pivotal position within China’s food‑healthcare system. However, at present, these products face challenges such as fragmented product varieties, unclear market positioning, and insufficient collaborative R&D efforts. To strengthen the management, guidance, and support for the research and development of medicinal‑food homology health foods, this study analyzes the existing issues. By tracing the evolution of such products in China, it conducts an in-depth examination of their R&D from the perspectives of functional scope, product attributes, registration and review processes, and regulatory oversight, and proposes corresponding strategies to address the current shortcomings.
